H-1B Numbers Dwindling for this Fiscal Year
As of October 25, 2009, only 12,200 H-1B visa numbers remain for this fiscal year. The numbers indicate that filings have increased recently, with 6,100 being filed in the month of September alone. Thus, H-1B hopefuls should plan to get their cases filed as soon as possible in order to guarantee that they receive one of the remaining numbers. Once the total allotment of 65,000 H-1B visa numbers has been exhausted for this fiscal year, a foreign national will be required to wait until April 2010 to file a case for a change of status to H-1B beginning in October 2010, which is the beginning of the next fiscal year.
