Roundsourcing Podcast (Brazil): Interview With Alana Portes, International Analyst for the State of Minas Gerais
While on a business mission trip to Brazil with the Dayton Development Coalition and the Cincinnati Regional Economic Development Initiative, the Roundsourcerer visited Minas Gerais, an inland state in the southeastern part of Brazil. Known for colonial-era towns dating back to the country’s 18th century gold rush, Minas Gerais is the country’s second most populous state (more than 20 million inhabitants), third in size by gross domestic product (GDP) and the fourth largest by area. Belo Horizonte, the capital and largest city of Minas Gerais, is a major urban and financial center in Latin America.
At a large innovation event, he met with Alana Portes, international analyst at the National and International Partnership Advisory for the State Secretariat, to discuss the critical international partnerships set up in the areas of science, technology and innovation. The Minas Gerais State Agency for Research and Development invests in the internationalization of science produced in Minas Gerais through partnerships with companies and research institutions in countries throughout the world.
The agreements aim to promote the exchange of researchers, fund jointly developed projects, and provide researchers from the State of Minas Gerais with international experience in some of the most important centers for knowledge generation in the world.
